The supplement industry, the minefield that is filled with smoke & mirrors, hidden proprietary blends and can be based on cults, sales powered by paid influencers that don’t even use the products.

So, firstly I’d like to say I’m no expert but I have spent alot of time soaking in the knowledge and trying to master my craft thus far.

I have been using supplements for as long as I can remember, dating back to the days of OG Jack3d & Lemon/Lime Noxpump.

I’ve dabbled with the sale of niche aminos & other forms of supplements etc in the past but I wanted to really challenge myself and what better way than in one of the most saturated markets, arguably in the world today..

 

 

How I started 1Source Supplements, was a fairly easy transition I guess as someone in the industry already with a few guys i thankfully knew, that were in the supplement trade, such as my friend Matt who kindly introduced me to people and companies to work with & Riz, helping me with the basic foundations such as labels due to a history in design…

Naturally, over the years science & what sports nutrition advances had been made became obvious (My knowledge was dated due to my lack of supplement use) so after the first product, i began researching & formulating my own and thats when time and a sport science background really helped me, i actually really, enjoy formulating products. 

I love the nerd aspect and i love how more often than not, there will always be future improvements & iterations of an already solid product!
 
First off, Its important to highlight something, market research is a KEY aspect to business and anyone who says they don’t look at other’s ideas is lying massively as in big companies, there would be a genuine department for just that!

So, you look at what the best are doing, you LEARN how, why etc..

‘Why does that work?’

‘What does that do?’

And you read into how certain products can work synergistically with others…

Some ingredients may also benefit from other ingredients due to uptake etc. for example, VIT D3/K2 is better with a form of magnesium alongside.

Secondly, Its important to know what change you want to make in the industry, for me, i wanted to offer genuine performance.

For example, my pre workouts have no ‘tingly’ feeling…so no beta alanine and the main reason for that is because unless its taken every day at a saturation dose, the occasional use doesn’t give much benefit!  
Some may love that effect for that urgency, confirmation of ‘its working’ but realistically theres no real one off benefit (secondly i hate how it feels haha)

With 1Source, the main theme I think and that I hope is apparent is that everything has been done in a way which maximises performance, no scatty stimulant energy and a very productive, smooth, energy from all of the products. 

A huge emphasis has been placed around cognition & sharp focus.
Transparency, for example on the hydration, we have worked out every number for the elemental mineral content so you can be sure to get what your body needs so over or underconsumption can be measured!
 
Thirdly, my main advice for anyone who wants to sell supplements is, make products you would use.

This originally was my mantra when i started because worst case scenario, me and my mates will use all the products if they didn’t sell.

I kept this going though because if customers are like minded people, they would have a use for the same things.

There seems to be from what I’ve seen, a lot of evidence and comments to support the fact that customers appreciate a brand, built by someone who genuinely enjoys and loves taking the products themselves.

This is all just my take & reflection of what I feel i’ve learnt in the very short time I’ve been a part of this industry.
